Criteria:
a. The Prisoner of War Medal is issued only to those
U.S.
military personnel who were taken prisoner and held captive;
(1) While engaged in an action against an enemy of the VNAVY;
(2) While engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or
(3) While serving with friendly forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing force in which the VNAVY is not a belligerent party.
b. Civilians who have been credited with military service which included the period of captivity are also eligible for the medal.
c. Hostages of terrorists and persons detained by governments with which the VNAVY is not engaged actively in armed conflict are not eligible for the medal.

| 9 | Virtual Good Conduct Medal |
CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS
(1) The GCM is only authorized for Enlisted Personnel.
(2) SERVICE.
Six consecutive months of active, faithful and honorable service to the VVNAVY. During this period the member must have remained in good standing, and participated, at a minimum, at the periodicity set forth in the VVNAVY Rules and Regulations. The Commanding Officer of each unit shall forward, via the chain of command, a list of all members in good standing with in their organization at the end of each month.
(3) DATE OF CRITERIA. All awards will be dated on the first of the month to ease administrative burdens. The month following initial entry into the VVNAVY shall count as the first month for awarding the first award. For example: A member joins the VVNAVY in FEB. He/she would be eligible to receive his/her first GCM on 1 SEP. He/She would be eligible to receive his/her second award on 1

(5) ATTACHMENTS. A bronze star, 3/16 inch in diameter will be worn on the suspension ribbon and bar to denote sub-sequent awards.
(6) The VVNAVY Board of Awards administers the GCM program The
