1Virtual Joint Service Achievement Medal 3 a. CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS. Awarded to members of the VVNAVY, including members in Inactive Reserve Status of the grade of lieutenant commander/major and junior thereto. The award shall be given for meritorious service or achievement in virtual combat or non-combat situations based on sustained performance or specific achievement of a superlative nature (in more than one component of the VVNAVY), but which does not warrant a Virtual Joint Services Commendation Medal or higher. (1) Professional achievement that merit the Virtual Joint Services Achievement Medal must clearly exceed that which is normally required or expected, considering the individual's grade or rate, training, and experience and be an important contribution of benefit to the VVNAVY. (2) Leadership Achievement that merit the Virtual Joint Services Achievement Medal must be noteworthy, sustained (two months or greater – time may over lap per each component considered, but must include at least one month per component) so as to demonstrate a high state of development or, if for a specific achievement, be of such merit as to earn singular recognition for the act(s) and reflect most creditably on the efforts of the individual toward the accomplishment of the unit mission. b. Limitations. The Virtual Joint Services Achievement Medal will not be awarded for service involving participation in aerial flight. This does not preclude the award of the Virtual Joint Service Achievement Medal to those who meet the CRITERIA requirement for service during which participation in aerial flight was incidental.

(1) Professional achievement that merit the VVNAVY Achievement Medal must clearly exceed that which is normally required or expected, considering the individual's grade or rate, training, and experience and be an important contribution of benefit to the VVNAVY. 10Virtual Combat Action Ribbon (1) Awarded to members of the VVNAVY in the grade of captain/colonel and junior thereto, who, while in virtual combat involving conflict with a non-VVNAVY opposing force or in virtual combat as part of a VVNAVY wide, CNO approved scenario driven mission have actively participated in ground or surface virtual combat. (2) The principal CRITERIA criterion is that the individual must have participated in a bona fide ground or surface virtual combat fire-fight or action during which he/she was under enemy fire and his/her performance while under fire was satisfactory. Service in a combat area does not automatically entitle a service member to the CAR. The following amplifying remarks are furnished as guidance. (3) Personnel in clandestine or special operations such as reconnaissance, SEAL teams, EOD teams, and Mine Countermeasures operations are eligible when the risk of enemy fire was great and was expected to be encountered. (4) Personnel aboard a ship are eligible when the safety of the ship and the crew were endangered by enemy attack, such as a ship hit by a mine or a ship engaged by shore, surface, air or sub-surface elements. (5) Personnel eligible for the award of the Virtual Purple Heart would not necessarily qualify for the Virtual Combat Action Ribbon. b. The Virtual Combat Action Ribbon will not be awarded to personnel for aerial combat since the Strike/Flight Virtual Air Medal provides recognition for aerial combat exposure; however, a pilot or crewmember forced to escape or evade after being forced down could be eligible for the award. c. LIMITATIONS. Only one award per mission is authorized. No image
